A Futuristic Dining Experience at Robot Café, Nairobi – Through the Eyes of An Auntie and Great Niece
Lunch with my niece at Robot Café in Nairobi!
During my last visit to Kenya in May 2025, someone mention about a new Robot Cafe” in town. I knew I had to go check it out, and who was my perfect lunch date? – My 4-year-old great-niece. It turned out to be one of the most unforgettable dining adventures we’ve had — a visit to the Robot Café.
Nestled in Lana Plaza in Kileleshwa, in Nairobi, the café offers more than just food; it’s a glimpse into the future. Delicious food, friendly robot servers, and a futuristic vibe that made her feel like she was in a real-life cartoon. Watching her light up with joy was the highlight of my day!
As soon as we walked in, her eyes widened with wonder. “Auntie, look! A robot!” she squealed with excitement. Sure enough, there they were — sleek, friendly robots gliding across the floor, greeting guests and delivering food with blinking LED eyes and polite, pre-programmed voices. She couldn’t stop waving at them, and to her delight, some even waved back.
The café had a cozy yet techy ambiance, blending childlike wonder with modern innovation. As soon as we sat the Robot brought my niece a coloring paper and crayons. She was in awe! How did she know I love to color? She asked.
When it was time to order, a robot gently rolled over to our table with a tray and a screen. With a few taps, we selected our meals — I went for their Samosas and a cup of Latte, and she chose sausage with fries. As we waited, another robot came by to play a little song and offered stickers to kids. My niece was thrilled — she clutched her sticker of a smiling robot like it was treasure.
The food arrived in style — served by a robot named “Nadia”, who politely said, “Enjoy your meal!” My niece looked up at me and whispered, “Auntie, I think Lexi is magic.” And in that moment, it really did feel like we were dining in a scene straight out of a cartoon.
The food was delicious and surprisingly affordable. But what made the experience truly memorable was seeing the world through her eyes — full of awe, imagination, and laughter.
Before we left, she gave Lexi a high-five (well, more like a high-hand-slap) and said, “Bye robot friend! I’ll come again!”
And I know we’ll definitely be back!
Robot Café Nairobi is a must-visit for families!
